A wonderfully nostalgic set of four vintage Christmas carollers, featuring three women and one gentleman dressed in colourful period-style clothing and gathered with their “Merry Christmas” songbooks.
Each figure is individually constructed with expressive sculpted features, layered paper clothing and hand-finished details. Their wonderfully exaggerated singing faces and lightweight construction give them the unmistakable character of mid-century Christmas décor.
The four figures share matching bases and styling and are being offered together as a set.
A classic red fire hydrant stands ready along the village street, paired with a blue newspaper box marked Snow Village Gazette. Together, these familiar street details add a touch of everyday life and character, making a natural addition to any village scene.

A Little History
These vintage Christmas carollers were made in Taiwan for SAMECO and are believed to date from approximately the 1960s–1970s, a period when Taiwan was becoming an important manufacturing centre for decorative goods exported to North America.
Closely matching carollers are also found attributed to Davar Products, Inc., a New York giftware company operating from the late 1950s. Davar imported and developed decorative goods manufactured in Asia, with documented products originating in both Japan and Taiwan.
The precise relationship between SAMECO and Davar has not been established. It is possible the companies sourced these figures from the same Taiwanese manufacturer or that SAMECO distributed them within the Canadian market. What survives today is a charming example of the colourful, hand-finished Christmas décor imported into North America during the mid-century era.
